jimmy:
...memories...

I'll see about organizing something.

Lidna:
I'm working next sat (6th) but any friday/sat evening after that should be fine if someone wants to organise it ;)

mmm....Cat5 cable...that brings back memories... :D ;)

Thursday, October 28

jimmy:
A networked issue?

Are people going to be any more likely to be wanting socializing in November?

Toby:
I am a networking issue.

Wednesday, October 27

jimmy:
It's this issue again.

Guess you get what you pay for?

Lidna:
ooo, it is now :)

Lidna:
Is it just me, or is PW not working?

Friday, October 22

jimmy:
Get Fiber-fox: Browse Healthy

(made by this guy)

Thursday, October 21

Lidna:
don't make me get the whip! ;)

Toby:

(Mind you, this is better, but I can't be arsed to scale it)

Wednesday, October 20

jimmy:

Toby:
That's not graphic disembowelment - that's just a French cuisine bonanza. And no, that's not a cue for someone to post a link to actual disembowelment - lets keep our lunch down folks.

jimmy:
mmmm... graphic disembowelment

Toby:
Well it's hardly surprising you're grumpy then. I find exiting bed through a brick wall to be one of the least pleasurable ways to start a day - along with the fiery pits en route to the bathroom and the "graphic disembowelment studies" class halfway down the stairs, it's enough to put you right off the rest of the morning, not to mention breakfast.

Tuesday, October 19

Lidna:
I want to post something witty and amusing, but i'm just too grumpy :P Methinks i got out of bed on the wrong side this morning - admittedly there is a wall on that side, but still :P

cheesey:
*does the Stroustrup Is Causing Me Physical Pain dance*

Yep, C++ practicals. Fucking awful language.

Monday, October 18

Toby:
Indeed. It does seem to be a recurring issue... Perhaps a combination of weed killer and Benji armed with a meat tenderizer would solve the problem?

On a different, and slightly more technical note, the Warbeck is currently suffering a DNS outage... again. Who stood on the cable this time, hmm?

Lidna:
and yet again...

Wednesday, October 13

Lidna:
Does it have to be taken with a meal? :P

jimmy:
and:

jimmy:
Yes. Got lectures.
November it is, then :p

Lidna:
having said that, i'm contemplating seeing shark tale on fri 22nd (don't hold me to it). Just wondering if anyone's interested in coming along. If it happens i doubt i'll be out late as i'm working the next day, would probly just be cinema and a meal of some variety :) Only problem that i can see is we'd really need to see the 4:30 showing + i'm guessing u may have lectures then?

Lidna:
Looks like the start of uni has been a shock to the system for everyone then :P

Jimbly: not sure i'm gonna be able to organise a gathering for the next few weeks, my weekends seem pretty much booked up until the end of october :P

Friday, October 8

cheesey:
Mmmm. Chocolate seals. Are they like wax seals? That is, can I apply a chocolate seal to my letters to prove they're from me? (I mean, who else would send a letter with integral dairy-milk mammal?)

*bored* :P

Lidna:
now i have an image of a seal shaped version of a chocolate biscuit bar :P

Thursday, October 7

Lidna:
noooooo! bad! wrong! :P

Wednesday, October 6

cheesey:
so cute!

Lidna:
but, but... so cute!

Toby:
And the scary thing is, from a nutritional point of view, that's probably fairly accurate. I'm still not eager to try it myself, though I gather you can now take a holiday in Norway to do precisely that (from what I read, they now provide tourists with rifles rather than clubs, but the principle is the same).

Tuesday, October 5

cheesey:
Mmmmm, freshly clubbed baby seals...

No, all joking apart, of course, you're right - to be part of a balanced diet, Freshly Clubbed Baby Seals™ should be served in a brown bread bun with a side salad, ideally with lettuce and/or spinach.

Toby:
Errm, yeah, in much the same way that freshly clubbed baby seals are not a substitute for a well balanced diet. I got bored of Frogger when I got to the last level (all gold frogs collected), although I never did finish all of the intermediate levels. I find it isn't a game with much replay value, given the later levels are so damn difficult.

Lidna:
I really should remember that Frogger is not a good alternative to sleep :P

Monday, October 4

Lidna:
Methinks the jimbly is having blogging problems, either that or someone gave him caffeine :P

Lidna:
This internet connection is so slow today! oh well. The short loan section at work has re-opened so i shall probly be posting very regularly now :P As for cooking, i generally just throw whatever looks edible in the pan and see what happens - this is fine as long as i don't happen to think that anti-bacterial handwash, or something equally random, looks tempting :P My insides would be very clean though...

Sunday, October 3

jimmy:
Does anyone know a not-shit cd ripper for Linux?

So far I've tried soundjuicer and GRIP, but neither seem to be particularly good at ripping large (think, 50 in one evening) volumes of cds quickly. This is really pissing me off. Any suggestions?

Toby:
I agree the RSS features of Firefox aren't much cop, but having the link tag on the main page at least gives other readers a fighting chance if they want to find the feed.

As for me, I upgraded to 1.0PR for one reason only - they've finally got around to fixing the URL launch bug on the Windows edition. Double clicking on a URL shortcut then having to mash the Ok button of the resulting error message dialog before the browser window opened was really pissing me off :P I only hope they get around to fixing the line break issue in the next release, 'cause that's equally irritating on cruftilly designed pages, though less invasive.

Saturday, October 2

jimmy:
PR doesn't really have any particularly important new features; there's certainly no need to upgrade until 1.0 unless you really feel you're missing something.

Firefox's RSS bookmarks are pretty much useless for any real purposes - they aren't really useful for large numbers of feeds, but it's pointless using RSS unless you're needing to keep track of a lot of pages. IMHO. Of course, this is entirely the point. Anyone needing the rss feed can get it here: RSS.

Anyway, thanks Toby. I'd completely forgotten about that :P

(I'm playing with CSS child selectors atm. If I've broken anything, please tell me.)

Hunter:
I'm still running Firefox 0.9.3 and won't be using 1.0 until final release so I see no Orange RSS logo. Am I really missing out that much?

Friday, October 1

jimmy:
(waits for Debian to get Preview Release into unstable)

You really do need to experience Rob's cookery. Really.

And, can people stop leaving ectoplasm *everywhere*? Behind the sofa on the floor is ok, but on the washing up sponges? You people are sick.

Toby:
BTW folks, I just added Firefox 1.0PR compatible Atom syndication autodetection to our main page... Spot the pretty orange "RSS" logo at the bottom of your browser window :)

Toby:
The cookbook is on the 'net, to which Rob is seemingly permanently wired - hence I see little point in trying to restrict access to the article itself. What is more important, and perhaps more achievable, is keeping him away from the base ingredients to any of the recipes - notably the beaver and four tons of beef. That much cow cannot be a good thing.

Hunter:
Damn it, I correct one typo and miss another. Why did you link to the cook book if we're trying to keep Rob away from it?

Toby:
Oh, and for those who haven't seen it before, Jean-Paul Sartre's cookbook. Please keep Rob away from the canned cherries.
